How to check why Windows keeps waking itself up?

Harry Voyager

I know there's a way to do it, but I can't for the life of me remember.

Basically my desktop keeps waking itself up out of sleep mode, and I'm not sure why. I know some of the time it's probably doing various updates and not going back to sleep, and sometime waking up input peripherals that just keep providing constant inputs.

I recall there was a way to check the logs to see what caused it, but can't recall how.

Thank you,

Harry Voyager

  1. Search for Command Prompt in the Start menu.
  2. Right-click and press "Run as administrator".
  3. Run the following command: powercfg -lastwake.

@GuiltySpark_ Thank you. Found the first one: HP Print Doctor was periodically waking the system to do whatever.

Now let's see what other things are running random stupid in the background...
