144hz monitor not doing 144hz monitor things

Whistist

Hello

Recently i upgraded my old 1080p 60 hz monitor for a 1440p 144 hz monitor yet i am unable to get the 144 hz selected
I have a r9 270x for a gpu

Only by going to 1080p im able to get even 120hz out of my monitor but i would rather not go down resolution

What monitor is it and what connection are you using? Some monitors have settings in them you need to change to get the maximum refresh rate.

Resolution might depend on what cable you are using.

You need to use displayport. Also that gpu is older than most gen z'ers. I am not quite sure if it even supports 2k 144hz

Yeah that GPU has HDMI 1.4 which supports 4k at 30hz or 1080p at 120hz. So if you want a high refresh rate you'll need to drop the resolution.

I wasn't talking about anyone being gen Z lol. I was just joking about the card being 9 years old
