I've done it with my Tomato flashed router, what router and firmware are you using?

I have a Asus ac router that has a VPN built in .

You can check if your router is compatible with Tomato firmware or DDWRT.

right now am using the super hub for virgin which is a router and modem in one but iv got some other ones I don't use so I thought I could put a vpn on it an dlink dsl-3780

Your D-Link router doesn't support VPN, nor any third party firmware. So if you want VPN support, you need to get a new router.

 

If you decide to buy a new router, tell me what your budget is and I will suggest you some routers :)
