Are there not enough great soldering kits at all sorts of prices? That's definitely a market they have no business in.

Getting irons or hot-air stations right is quite hard, and messing them up is easy.

Not to mention the whole soldering gear category would be quite niche.

 

I could see an LTT static dissipative wristband or mat being a thing, since those are also useful when building PC's.

But not soldering irons or items as such.

LTT could apply paint to a white label ironing solder, but I don't think there is much value in that. I wouldn't buy a cheap LTT iron, and for an expensive one I'd rather trust Weller or reputable highly reviewed manufacturer.

 

Someone like Louis Rossman would be much better suited to lend their name to a good hot air station.Like a Kingpin edition graphics card, a Rossman edition soldering station might have market value.

LTT audience isn't the market segment for soldering stuff

Unless they're selling a Hakko or Weller Iron its not worth buying and its not worth them selling.

To be fair, I have one of the Princess Auto home-brand Soldering Irons, and while it's no $200 Weller, it's damn good for the price I paid. Way better than any other "less expensive" Soldering Iron I've ever used.

 

I don't do much soldering these days so I couldn't justify buying a Weller or Hakko unit, but I still wanted something that I didn't need to hold onto the solder for 60 seconds just to melt it.
