Hi there! I’ve been having some WiFi issues recently and want to know if I can fix it without someone coming out and getting charged 100$. I have the realtek 8821ce wireless lan 802.11ac pci-e nic. Now I have an xfi gateway with the 800mbs plan. I have been having random ping spikes from like 30-90. I’m not sure what settings I can change or what I can do to fix it. I am unable to connect to Ethernet as I’m on the next floor. I don’t have the option to set my preferred band to 5g. The 2.4g band seems to not spike and has lower download speed. (48mbs). The 5g band has often ping spikes and high download speed. Xfinity says they can’t help me. How can I have no ping spikes but high download speed.

Adjust what channel(s) you are broadcasting on. There may be other people and access points in the area which are broadcasting on the same channels.

How can I do so and what channels would you recommend for someone in a neighborhood.

Well. First you might need to download an App from Xfinity. Half the gateways settings can be accessed thru the web interface the other half require an App on your phone. Its fucking stupid if you ask me. Which is one of the many reasons we choose not to rent their equipment.

As for settings. You will need to use a WiFi analyzer app on your phone to determine which channels are being used by the neighbors. Then you just set the channels in the Gateways settings. Though Im not sure what settings you have access to, as I dont use their equipment because Im not paying $14/m for sub standard equipment.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
