NVidia enforcing "stricter EDID rules"

Backbite

So I recently updated graphics drivers to 511.65 and my old monitors could no longer detect native resolutions.

I used ASUS VE258Q 25" monitors for a number of years before upgrading, and now use them as secondary monitors.

They are still excellent 1080p monitors.

Is there any known work-around for EDID issues like this?

I have the monitor plugged in with a full HDMI to HDMI.

Unfortunately, the only display port I have available on my laptop is taken by my main monitor.

Overall, I find this very strange to "enforce stricter EDID rules" for monitors.

Is there any real reason for them to restrict EDIDs?

This seems really arbitrary, and potentially bad for trying to use older but still great monitors.

FWIW, I sent them the dispdiag files.

uh oh. I had and still have a monitor that had EDID issues with Nvidia drivers. I will have to check and see if these drivers cause me issues.
