I dont have a 1440p but even watching videos in 720p in a 1080p monitor or heck even anime doesnt look anything bad at all.

NOPE

I have an ASUS G14 2021 with Manjaro KDE and I am a professional Linux NoOB and also pretty bad at General Computing.

1080p videos look just fine on 1440p monitors in general. Things that may affect playback are colour range of monitor, scaling engine used etc.

i think it's only depends on video bitrate

so as long as video has high bitrate it won't looking bad at all

1080p may look a little bit different compared to either native resolution as there is the need for upscaling to a resolution it doesn't fit as a whole multiple in. 4k will have the benefit of downsampling, but might also look a little different then either native resolution as 2560x1440 doesn't fit in 3840x2160 whole either. I've seen both, neither looks bad to me.
