hey guys need help with budget build

ok in a nutshell im building a budget gaming rig on a small budget i have a max of 500$ (usd)

i was thinking either for processors a intel i3 or a fx4300 or a a10 5800k(id crossfire the apu) id get 8 gigs ddr3 1866 ram 1tb hdd and just a random cheapy case i dont need a os mouse or keyboard so opinions /help/ideas (im also interested in weird pc ideas {oil cooled fish tank pc for ex}) any help is apreaciated

Project black out: cpu: athlon x4 750k @4.7ghz, Mobo: asrock fm2+ a55 vg3+, ram: 1x 8gb hyperx 1866mhz, video card: 1x saphire radeon r9 270x, Storage: 1tb hdd ssd in the future,  cooling: 2 noctua 120mm fans 1 on rad one front intake.

If you don't need CPU performance, that APU should work pretty good for games. (not super intense games though) It'll be good for games like Diablo III, Starcraft, etc.

I say unless the price for 1866 is just a few dollars more than 1600, go with 1600. Unless you end up getting an APU, as I know higher MHz ram can help that out. A gaming rig on 500 is tough tho. I think an APU type system is what you should look into.

Rig: i7 13700k - - Asus Z790-P Wifi - - RTX 4080 - - 4x16GB 6000MHz - - Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe Boot + Main Programs - - Assorted SATA SSD's for Photo Work - - Corsair RM850x - - Sound BlasterX EA-5 - - Corsair XC8 JTC Edition - - Corsair GPU Full Cover GPU Block - - XT45 X-Flow 420 + UT60 280 rads - - EK XRES RGB PWM - - Fractal Define S2 - - Acer Predator X34 -- Logitech G502 - - Logitech G710+ - - Logitech Z5500 - - LTT Deskpad

Headphones/amp/dac: Schiit Lyr 3 - - Fostex TR-X00 - - Sennheiser HD 6xx

Homelab/ Media Server: Proxmox VE host - - 512 NVMe Samsung 980 RAID Z1 for VM's/Proxmox boot - - Xeon e5 2660 V4- - Supermicro X10SRF-i - - 128 GB ECC 2133 - - 10x4 TB WD Red RAID Z2 - - Corsair 750D - - Corsair RM650i - - Dell H310 6Gbps SAS HBA - - Intel RES2SC240 SAS Expander - - TreuNAS + many other VM’s

While true in almost every case, APU's make use of faster ram for their performance increases.

Theoritical values example below to be taken with a grain of salt..

This is made up but gives an idea...You cant say there wouldnt be a difference.

1333mhz - 22fps Dirt 3 1080p

1600mhz - 25fps Dirt 3 1080p

1866mhz - 31fps Dirt 3 1080p

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

At 500$ I think you would be best going with an APU solution, can't imagine haswell is going to come in cheap with its on board graphics this is intel after all.(Not hating I've an Intel CPU and SSD).

I agree with the previous posts. For that price, go APU. If you are planning to add a dedicated GPU later, then don't bother spending the extra money for 1866 RAM.

Just go with APU build. i3 is not the solution for you.

i plan on using a hd 6670 so either itd be crossfire with the apu or a single card with an i3 or fx4350 or maby a 6300

I understand that AMD CPUs benefit more from higher MHz ram, but honestly can you see 5fps difference? Also, why spend another $20 on something you wont see. If you were concerned with getting extra FPS from your ram using your AMD CPU, then you should be finding a set of 2400MHz ram to actually see any sort of a difference, and at this point, to have a visible performance increase, the money spend on such a nice ram kit you may as well get a decent GPU to get way more performance per dollar.

At lower frame rates that he'll be getting absolutely can be the difference between playable and unplayable
