Hey everyone, I hope you're well.

For the past few days, my GPU Memory Clock has been at maximum all the time. I usually monitor my temps and clocks while gaming and working, but this is just getting ridiculous. I use an MSI RX 570 Gaming X and dual monitors (72 hz and 60 hz). I've been using dual monitors for months without having a single issue, but now my GPU temps hit around 70-80 C while gaming, when I never used to go above 65 C. Old idle temps, even during summer, never went above 35C , and now I'm sitting at a lovely 45 C as we speak, with one browser tab open and zero other programs running except Afterburner. If I unplug the second monitor (the 60hz one), my memory clock drops from 1750mhz to 300 mhz.

Every forum I see just says that its 'normal' when using dual monitors, but I never once encountered this up until a few days ago. Why is this all of a sudden an issue when it never used to be and how do I fix this?

I'm on the latest AMD drivers, and I haven't attempted DDU yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmm, what happens when you use the "2nd" monitor as the only one/primary. Does it still happen?

What if you use that monitor with another cable?
Have you tried a different cable port (I.e. hdmi and DisplayPort cables).

Have you factory reset both monitors and set settings back?

Any firmware version updates for either monitor?

And hey DDU never hurts with GPU issues

No, if I unplug either monitor and only use one or the other it goes right back down.

Still the same issue with a different cable.

Yes, I've reset both monitors, no difference.

No, neither have any updates as far as I can see.

Just did DDU now, no difference.

Thank you for your ideas, I appreciate it! I really have no idea why it's doing this all of a sudden and I'm losing my mind.

Random guess, how old is the graphics card? Paste could be getting old

Also have you verified all GPU fans are running?

Can you set fan curves for it for better preformance?

It's a refurbished card that was out of use until I bought it last year June. I replaced the paste when I bought it. Even if I replaced the paste today again, it wouldn't make a 5-10 C difference.

Both fans are running and I have a pretty aggressive (and noisy) curve. even with both fans at 100% they cant cool it below 70 while gaming. Again, if I unplug one of the monitors, the temps drop by around 5 C and its back to normal.

Apparently its a 'function' built into AMD cards to make sure monitors with different resolutions or refresh rates agree with each other and don't cause severe tearing or stuttering.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was like this from the day I plugged the second monitor in, but its literally only been an issue for the past few days.

Thanks again for your suggestions!
