Hi community,

I built a custom pc, and looking to expand my games and streaming and so on.

I need to know something that is very vague and hoping you all can assist me.

I know a single game doesn't justify as a test but currently I enjoy playing the new CoD map.

I feel like the game is very laggish and stuttery. Where I even downscaled my ingame settings to medium So now I'm getting high fps but still feels like it stuttering.

I don't know much but I feel like I might be hitting a bottleneck at my PSU or possibly somewhere else?

Currently hitting 150-180 fps on 2K ingame

PC spec is:

Ryzen 9 5900x

Msi x570-a pro

Corsair cx750f rgb 750w

Corsair vengeance pro rgb 32gb 3600mhz

Corsair hydro series h100i 240mm liquid cpu cooler

Corsair mp600 pro 1tb

Asus tuf Rx6900xt GPU

Asus tuf gaming wqhd 27" 1ms 165hz display.

So how do I know I am getting the frames I want? Or how do I know what fps I should be getting?

Also the monitor is freesync premium monitor. And that is not stable.

I don't k ow where to begin.

Any help would be awesome.

Thank you

The cx750 is a solid PSU, but it's not enough for a 5900x and a 6900xt.

That would be pushing that PSU to the max, and even then, you're likely power throttling on either the CPU/GPU or potentially both, which means you're getting less performance than you should be.

With that being said, those parts are still high end, and I wouldn't expect sluggish game performance, although I suppose the psu may be the cause.

I would try other 3d applications and benchmarks to see how they perform.

If it's just the one game causing issues, it may need to be patched.

PSU Tier List   AMD Mobo Tier List   SSD Tier List

If your issue is resolved, please share the fix with the community.

That isn’t how this works. If the PSU isn’t up to it, the system will just crash. Throttling due to power would be if the VRM can’t provide enough power to the components, but if the VRM demands power and the PSU can’t provide it, things will lock up and crash.

If the PC works, it’s like “ok”. If the CPU and GPU are not overclocked, the PSU is likely “fine”. I would say try and sell it for a better unit, but I doubt that is causing stuttering.

Drivers are all updated? BIOS is updated? Does it happen in other games or just CoD? COD is a mess…. Has been for years. If you try other games that are well written like apex or CS GO and you don’t have issues, it’s likely the game and not your system.

bottleneck at my PSU

Worst case scenario your system might peak at around 500 watts, but not in game. In game your GPU may peak at around 350 watts, but that's not a continuous load. Your CPU might peak at around 145 watts but not in game as it won't be under a full load. Unless your PC is restarting/crashing due to over draw protection kicking in I don't think the PSU is at fault. You typically want a bit more of a buffer but your PSU should be OK.

OP, I'd recommend running DDU and completely remove your drivers. Install the newest revision of your drivers and try a few different games and see if you're still getting any stutter in game. If you have Free Sync enabled, just turn it off. It can cause issues and won't help you diagnose any potential issues.

Thanks for the advice. Makes sense.

So my question is even if I run 3d benchmarks etc. How would I know what stats I am supposed to be getting?

simple

theres a "compare to similar systems" right in the results screen (its in a dropdown menu)

i can almost guarantee your system will perform as expected though,  it usually does... you're just expecting too much from it most likely.

and this, i have a "gysync verified" freesync monitor,  the lag is unreal, i actually feel scammed...

that's why i just use my old asus mx279h,  there is no lag,  even upscaled to 1440p/ 4k...
