Can i run 4K?

DarrenP

I'm thinking of getting a new monitor. I'm thinking instead of going from 1080 to 1440/1600 i'm just going to jump to 4K. However i want to know if i can actually run 4K on my Single GTX 780 Windforce 3x 450W? I'm thinking i'll be able to run it. However playing games might be a little taxing. So please let me know. The 4K monitor i plan to get is:

Samsung U28D590D 28in 4K UHD LED Monitor 3840X2160

If i would need to get another GTX 780 to play optimally please let me know. As that is not quite within the cards right now. (Ha get it?) But i will save some more money than.

Thanks guys! :D

i have a 780 it can barely run 1080p maxed out and not even all games for 4k it is deff not enough i dont even think the 880 will be enough im going to get a 4k monitor soon but im not going to bother playing games at 4k for like 4 years until i can actually have a card that can run it the 780 is a ball sack of a card imo i wish i never got it the only thing i like about it is the reference look.

Well the thing is it's not like i play extremly demanding games. For example when i first got my 280X i still played games on lower quality because it really doesn't bother me all that much. All the AA and MXAA I don't use. So given that. Would you guys think i would be able to play?

This is a benchmark for BF4 4k with the 780 refrence so yours should pull a couple frames more. If you add a second card it'll run pretty much every game at high settings 60 fps but with one you'll have to lower quality or live with lower fps.

Go SLI 780 and you'll be fine for medium settings without AA ( you won't need AA anyway )

I have the Windforce which performs slightly less than the MSI Lighting.

The thing is I literally just bought this 780. It hasn't got here yet. (Will be here later today). I don't much want to play around with selling it and getting to 290X's.

I was referring to the reference 780 benchmark which is also listed when I said it'll perform slightly better.

oh right derp, in that case you could add a second or third one. scaling only goes down with a 4th gpu

I think what i might do is purchase the monitor first. See how it plays out. Because it seems like not everyone knows how well it will perform.. Some say well others say not so well. I'll see how it goes. Add to is as i go.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

not worth the risk. the monitors cost allot and what if it ends up not working then you have a monitor you cant use unless you can get the money for a 780. dont

Well i mean i can always use it on a single 780. It's not going to lag when browsing the web. :P I'll just unplug it and plug in my 2 1080's when i want to game :P

Until you feast your eyes on the glorious bliss of 1080p+ and never want to go back, even if your gpu is shitting itself at 30fps...

...true story.
