I genuinely hope this wont be a fucking industry trend moving forward. If every big box prebuilt brand employ this, this would kill a system chance to resell in competitive price without some compromise.

AMD should never have had such a feature on their chips to begin with, especially their consumer line.

This is much ado about nothing. ThinkCentre PCs are enterprise focused. In the enterprise, component theft is a real thing. The m75q model in the cited article is sold by the millions to corporation while consumers do not generally purchase them. I'm not saying they never do but it's probably a single digit percentage of total sales of that model. That model is extremely easy to open and pulling out a Ryzen 7 and replacing it with a Ryzen 3 could be done in minutes. This is purely a security play. Remember, AMD tends to keep their socket architectures in production for a quite some time. So someone with a R5 1600 could swap their proc for a R5 3600 and it happens way more frequently than you'd think.聽

The reason people care so much is because they're not smart enough to understand the topic.聽 聽Most people here don't even use pre-built computers.聽 They mostly use rigs they built themselves for gaming.聽 聽They assume that servers and enterprise computers are also mommy's FB machine.聽 聽A Thinkcenter is meant for a business, and the "locking" is going on a computer not meant for them.聽 It's going on a computer that is meant for a business as that is what Lenovo designed them for.聽 In fact, you can turn PSB off in the BIOS.聽 People simply flipped out because servethehome poorly reported on it.聽 It's always cute when Linus and Co are too lazy to actually read into a topic, and more interested making cringe clickbait videos for profit.聽 聽I thought Linus started LMG to teach people, not spread bad information.聽 So, how many of you buy Thinkcenters for your business?聽 I know Linus doesn't, and I'm sure almost nobody here is a business owner buying these for their business.聽 @RILEYISMYNAME聽Seriously, how much research actually went into this topic before you guys even reported on it?聽聽https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/c/desktops/thinkcentre聽-All the research you needed.聽 I mean I'm also curious if you, LMG, even understand PSB to begin with.

My shovel hurts more than your repressed memories.
