What are you planning on doing? Where is the current cpu being a problem?

Either way your board cannot handle anything better than a fx6300 without cooking itself so you are stuck there. Even if it could not a single fx cpu is considered anywhere near decent in 2022. The single core performance is just awful and they kinda just suck in all tasks. So I advice you to not spend a single cent on this platform

Before I can help you further what is your budget? What are your goals?

I wouldn't consider a CPU on that socket a worthwhile upgrade. If your budget is very constrained, I recommend searching the used market for a cheap B350/B450 motherboard, a first or second gen Ryzen processor, and some inexpensive DDR4. Even first gen Ryzen has some massive performance improvements over the FX series, a Ryzen 3 1200 would even make for a big jump in performance. But, you might spot a Ryzen 5 1400 for a good price, or even a 1600.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

There's 8350 and 8370's but they can't hold up to even a 5820k intel which you can get a motherboard and CPU for the for a little over the price of a used 8370

Hi I wanna upgrade to a new CPU that is better than the one Ihave rn which is AMD FX 6300. here is the cpus my mobo supports https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-78LMT-S2(rev._1.1).html I have a 450w PSU 8GB ram SSD HDD and AMD R7 260x gpu

You should really just save money and then get something more current. Ryzen 1600 is very cheap used and maybe you can get a deal on a motherboard combo. Also used of course. That gives you plenty of cpu performance for almost anything and it is a significant upgrade, which nothing you can stick into AM3 would be.

Please don't spend your money on such an old platform.

PC: AMD Ryzen 7 7700 || Noctua NH-U12S SE2 || 32GB DDR5 6000 CL32  ||
|| Powercolor RX 9070 Reaper || Asus B650E-I
  || WD 850X 2TB ||  Corsair SF600 || Intertech IM 1 |||
Peripherals: Sennheiser PC  360 G4ME || AOC CQ27G2U || Viewsonic PX701HD || Keychron V1 || Logitech G303 Shroud Edition||| Laptop: XPS 13 2in1 7390 || Steam Deck 256 GB (64GB Version) ||| Cameras: Fujifilm XH-1 || Fujifilm X100T

Like tbh I dont have many problems with the CPU I have rn it does the job for me I aint running 40 tasks at once and playing games at ultra or something like that. Im a league player i dont need a rly good pc I just thought it would be nice to have an upgrade. Now I have a ddr3 mobo which is not up to date I realise that but a lot of people use it and it works perfectly it can run all the games you can name, myb ddr4 mobo will have some booming features I am sure of that but why would you need a rocket in your back yard when you don't need it or use it. I can't afford buying a whole new mobo bcs I will lose my CPU and my ram. Idk if I can use the same cooler.

Why not if it suits my needs and works for me and its inexpensive

True! 😉

As long as it works for you, why not.
What are you paying for the new old CPU?

new old cpu lmao. Idk yet which one thats why Im asking here

Sorry. I bought a xeon 1230v2 not too long ago, so I am all for old CPUs getting new life.

However, I looked at a picture of your motherboard and am I correct in the assumption that there is no vrm cooling?

I don't think that buying an used old CPU is the wise choice here, because the performance gain per dolar spent won't be that good.

In my opinion you should upgrade to a newer platform, you don't need to spend too much on it to be a noticeable upgrade. Something like i3 12100F + decent H610 + 2x8GB 3200Mhz CL16 RAM will be a really big upgrade from the FX6300.

But you are gonna have to wait a few weeks until H610 motherboards start to hit the shelves.

Well, I just typed in the name you gave in Google. Blue motherboard and it looks like VRMs are just plain sitting on the board. Maybe Google is giving me sth wrong and/or you have a different one.

Long story short: Please check your motherboard and look what cooling looks like and what the VRM config is.

I remember that back in the day the 8XXX bulldozer chips were not recommended on weaker VRMs/uncooled VRMs. They may get too hot and cause other problems.
