anyway so i been trying to automate my wall power plugs (outlets) but dont want to connect to the net or use my cell phone... is there an app that works with say a Bluetooth plug and works with the pc that dose not require to connect to the web?

i found this one but look like its web base. web site

i found one remote timer but you can only use one program for the house. i can use more bases but it will all fallow one remote. right no its setup to my gaming consoles will turn on once a day for an hour to keep the controllers charged and when i want to play the consoles i push the on button and push the the my program button when done to go back to 1 hour a day.

I don't know that I've seen Bluetooth ones. There are ZWave and ZigBee ones that are designed to connect to a home automation hubs. There are home automation hubs that are local network only. I believe Hubitat was one that was offline only for quite a while, though they did finally add online capitability as an option? I'm a SmartThings user, so I would double check that.

i won a 50inch tv at xmiss and ya its a smart tv...basically a built in cell phone...and we no the cell phone recorders everything... i dont plan on connecting ether net to it but it probably can get data put by cell or trys to connect to other non password wife...

i heard the people are so automated and there network gets harked and cant accuses there coffeemaker...

wating for that day you have to watch an ad to take a ship... if my data was used only for ads that would be fine be we all no it can be sued for way more then that...

You might also look into Arcus. When Lowes ditched Iris, they open sourced it. A bunch of users have brought it sort of back and repurposed a bunch of that old hardware. However be careful with some of the old gen Iris wifi stuff, you have to change the passwords otherwise it is vunerable to attacks.

Probably because the main forum that discussed this disappeared a while back.

Here is the GitHub for Arcus. I'll have to try and figure where that stuff is being discussed now. I used to keep up with a bit more as I did have a bunch of the old Iris stuff.  It does take a bit of tinkering to get up and running though, and obtaining obsolete hardware at this point (which may mean cheap, or may mean hard to get).

Something like Hubitat would definitely be a bit easier as it is more plug and play solution. Just trying to throw out options.

I've yet to find smartplugs that dont phone home. They are all based on zwave and while there is data center grade gear that's more secure and IP based its tough to find and pricey. KVM via IP, etc.

The main concern with smartplugs is if they get jacked somebody has a backdoor onto your network. I just put mine on their own SSID with unique password, and/or just block them from internet access with my firewall after they are set up.

ya that's what i was wondering. thow i dont think my net is vary secure i think it uses the stranded pass...

that's why i was trying to do it the dume way... but cant find much out there because everyone wants your data that they can sell. maybe ill have to think about it a bit longer. it was just a thing i thought of doing now to save on energy cost down the road even thow its built in to my rent now so i see no reduction. but the bill gets pays by my sister so and i get a really good deal... i also got an electric oven as well to save on energy.
