Can I Put 88Gb Of Ram In My Setup?
My experience with mixing server memory has been very touch & go. I mean that as in sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't and for a given server you really won't know unless you try it.
I have had sever memory purchased at two separate times but with perfectly identical specs/manufacturers/stickers. And would have failure to POST. Has to send ALL of it to the manufacturer in exchange for a verified matched kit for all of it to work.
Other times I've had very mixed kits work fine.
I can't vouch for your exact server, motherboard, BIOS version so it's a gamble you can take. You can increase your chances of it working though by matching the specs to the old memory as best you can. Although I have heard different before generally servers don't like mixing RAM of different ranks. Say 1Rx4 w/ 2Rx8 or 4Rx16. So keep that in mind.
Otherwise if you don't mind the risk you can go for it. There is a chance it will work.
If you're particularly worried about it you could also ask yourself the question. Do you really need it? 64GB in a workstation is substantial. Does your workflow really need more?
