The 780 isn't a bit more powerful. They beat each other in different games and are pretty much neck and neck.

Those cards are so similar, in different games one will beat the other. This will be the case performance-wise throughout your entire experience with either one.

 

As for Star Citizen, I would save the $20 and go with the R9 290. It'll fancy Mantle!

Hi !

I am about to change my graphic card and i can't decide between those two.

The R9 290 is a bit less than 400€ and the 780 GTX is 420€, both cards are Gigabyte windforce OC.

I really want to play at star citizen, so AMD Mantle, is it really gonna be usefull ? Nvidia less power less heat, a bit more graphic power ?

  • i5 4670k @4.6GHz
  • MSI HD 7850
  • 256GB SSD
  • Corsair CX 600W
  • Z87-G45 Gaming
  • Define R4 Case
  • Windows 7

get the 290 for sure for star citizen.

R9 290 have better performance but uses more noise. I still would recommend R9 290 for gaming.

Price is in euros, i save only 20€, so money is not an issue.
