980 PRO windows 11 driver

Go to solution Solved by SpookyCitrus,

If it's detected in Windows and you can format and use the drive there is no need for a driver. You will only need a NVMe driver if the drive is not detected at all. NVMe drives do not have specific drivers per model like a GPU. The 980 Pro in particular doesn't even have driver software for it and the Samsung NVMe driver is for a Windows install that is fresh and does not detect NVMe drives at all.

I have an Asus ROG Strix scar 17 Which only has one terabyte of storage included. There is a second slot so I bought a Samsung 980 pro, but the problem is I can’t install the Samsung NVMe driver. The driver install doesn’t detect that I have a drive installed.

my motherboard knows it’s there

windows knows it’s there

Samsung magic knows it’s there

how do i get the Samsung installer to recognize it?

It’s plenty quick as is, I just want the correct Samsung driver to be installed for it just in case there’s some sort of issue later down the road. It’s currently using the default windows NVMe driver and it’s working well.

There is really no need at all for another driver, it'd be a source of problems more than anything.

And the only "Samsung NVMe driver" I can find doesn't support the 980 Pro.
