multi pc/gaming console sound question

hey so i have a bunch of consoles all hooked up to an 8 hdmi splitor that go to the tv (as my second monitor) and i get the audio from an hdmi to 3.5,digital out  extractor and send that in to my pc but now i want to add more pcs to the mix. (i cant add it to the hdmi splitor because its an auto switching thing and want the second monitor tv to be with the mane pc so. the auto switch only stitches when there's one thing on.

i have a pc that's going to be just for audeo and got a sound card for it that take 3.5mm in/out and digital in and out and probably going to use audacity to record the audio

my question is is there a desktop thing that can take a bunch of 3.5mm/ digital with volume control as well as maybe a volume lever that increases low volume and increases high volume? i dont no what there called a mixer of some sort? or is there one that can record the audio on it and save it as an mp3?

I'd simplify the process, and convert all your consoles to HDMI (If any still use analog) and pass it through an hdmi switch splitter and plug that single into your tv. Since you said tv, then I'm presuming it has onboard speakers and that will be it. So you can use it for your pc and your consoles source and audio included

well that's what i do now but i use head phones and i have 3 of them all hooked up. one is wirless with bluetooth one on my desk for pc and one on my bed.

all the consols have hdmi adaptors and gos to an 8hdmi auto siwtch one for second monior and use an audio exstractor to send it in to my pc by line in. but i did get an sound card so now i can do line in by digital as my mb dise not have that

and i want to move all the audio to another pc. but i also want to add other pc audio to the mix...

I see, this is where my knowledge falls flat. Mixing other electronic system's audio outputs through a computer sounds like a software and as you said sound card setup that is way too complicated for me to understand. Luckily you didn't wanna throw a capture card into this mess. Isolate the audio to their own devices. Doesn't hurt to pick up separate devices for the different systems would be to simplify

  • Consoles > HDMI Switch > TV > Audio Switch with Toslink female (So you have to get a duplicate switch and headphones for the console, or just do a quick move around from the one with your other devices already on there)
  • PC > HDMI Switch > TV
  • Headphones > Toslink switch (Which it seems you have already figured out the 3.5mm + volume knob to tos conversion for those [Move to tv if needed]) / Direct 3.5mms > PC

There probably is a way to make it so you don't need other devices, but this is about as best as I could figure it out. Sorry if this may not help, trying my best, but this is the best as I understand it, best of luck!
