Hey,

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm a bit out of my depth right now.

I have an MSI B350M Pro-VDH motherboard. I recently purchased a Ryzen 5 5600G without checking whether or not it'd be compatible with my MOBA. I just went and checked and none of the compatibility listings list this specific CPU(however they list Ryzen 5 CPUs, simply nothing from the 5000 series).

In short: am I screwed and need to buy a new MOBA for my CPU or do I have other options?

A), it is Mobo, not MOBA, and B), While the 5600G is actually Zen 2 and not Zen 3, I would not be surprised if it is not compatible. You will need to return the motherboard and grab a A520 or B550 motherboard instead.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

Ryzen 5000 series CPUs are only supported on 400 and 500 series boards unfortunately.

That's absolutely cheeks. Thanks boys I appreciate the quick response, I guess I messed up on that one haha.

While I have you:

GTX 1060GB GPU

Samsung SSD 860 EVO SSD

16.0GB 3200mhz Vengeance LPX RAM

Ryzen 5 5600G CPU

Is there any compatibility issues with the B550-F? Any other recommendations for a decent mobo that wouldn't require me to remortgage my house?

Actually: I just found this article and the corresponding BIOS on MSIs website:

https://www.hardwaretimes.com/msi-releases-ryzen-5000-ryzen-6000-zen-3dsupport-for-b350-x350-motherboards/

Is this something worth trying?

It certainly can't hurt to try it but you are going to need a compatible CPU to update the BIOS.
