How is my setup for a Minecraft Server?

Hello,

I am trying to maximize my performance on a Minecraft server. I will list the specs below but I was wondering if they seem like a good system to run a server on for the long run, or if there are bottlenecks that could come up. Any help is appreciated; here are the specs for my server.

Operating System:

           Microsoft Corporation, Windows Server 2016 Standard Evaluation (10.0.14393) (en-US)

Motherboard Model:

Storage:

           3TB of storage on HDD with one hot-swappable drive

Processor(s):
Two Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 @ 2.40GHz (16 virtual) (X64)
Available Memory:
48GB of ECC DDR3 RAM
Intel Corporation S5520HC

My first impression is to say that it is over kill, but you haven't given me enough information.

1. Are you making this server for you and your friends? Or are you planning on hosting this server for a whole bunch of people?

2. Are you doing to be running Java or Bedrock? Modded or vanilla? All those things change the requirements.

I can tell you from experience that the experience isn't great. I have a pair of E5645 (6 core models) with 96GB of RAM and a 5 disk RAID 6 array and due to the minecraft server being completely single threaded it can be a struggle once people start doing mob farms or are spread out across the world. These older server processors can be great for game servers that exploit concurrency but minecraft isnt one of them.

I am referencing Java version and basically bone stock in regards to mods. No idea if Bedrock has a better server model or not.

CPU: Intel i7 - 5820k @ 4.5GHz, Cooler: Corsair H80i, Motherboard: MSI X99S Gaming 7, RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 2666MHz CL16,

GPU: ASUS GTX 980 Strix, Case: Corsair 900D, PSU: Corsair AX860i 860W, Keyboard: Logitech G19, Mouse: Corsair M95, Storage: Intel 730 Series 480GB SSD, WD 1.5TB Black
