I personally don't know much about it. But you can read through this review and make your own opinion on it: Gigabyte M34WQ Review - RTINGS.com

Hello LTT community. I've been on a search for a decent 1440p UW monitor.

My main requirement are:

34" 1440p

100 - 144Hz

Gsync compatible

Either quality VA that doesn't suffer from terrible ghosting or IPS with acceptable response time.

I've seen some LG monitors, but those are over cost like 1300 euros which is a bit too much. I'm looking for something around 700-900 euro range max if possible.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

I don't think there's ultrawide monitor with good VA quality apart from G9 which is way overkill.

Acer XV340CK is one of budget IPS UW released in 2020. I also notice there are more new monitors popping out like AOC U34G3X and Gigabyte M34WQ.

The only problem is they are all flat monitors so I'm not sure if you're fine with it.

EDIT: Typoed Gigabyte monitor, curse you monitor names

I had 34" LG monitor with a very slight curve and I was absolutely fine with that. So I don't think there will be any difference getting a flat panel.

That Acer monitor looks very  tempting. I will consider getting it.

The LG 34GN83A-B, 34GN850-B or 34GP83A-B are good choices. They are all pretty similar, so just go for whichever is the cheapest.

If they're still too expensive, the AOC CU34G2X or the Gigabyte G34WQC are good VA choices. Both suffer from dark level smearing to some degree but have good overall response times, so ghosting won't be too bad and it's more than good enough for more casual gaming. If you're in the competitive scene ultrawide doesn't make sense either way.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

What about Gigabyte M34WQ? Its the same as G34WQ, but IPS. I can get it for around 550 euros. Reviews are pretty good on it

I personally don't know much about it. But you can read through this review and make your own opinion on it: Gigabyte M34WQ Review - RTINGS.com

While glimpsing over the review my conclusion is basically: It's a decent mid-range option. A tad slower than the LG offerings and a bit smaller for the color gamut, but still good performance overall.

Yeah thats why I'm considering it. All LG monitors in the same category are either 200+ euros more expensive or simply unavailable right now. My current monitor is LG34UC89G. Judging by reviews of both of these monitors, M34WQ should be a substantial improvement in colors and performance.

Yes it will be a big upgrade. And i'd say the extra budget you'd spend on the LG offerings aren't really worth it when looking at the differences.

Just something i noticed: It's a flat panel. Normally 21:9 monitors are curved. It's not an issue imo but some people might not like a flat 21:9.

I know. My monitor is the same size and a BARELY noticeable 3400 or 3800 (I don't remember exactly)curve. So getting a flat one wouldn't be much different for me.

I've got a HP X34. UW 1440p, 165hz, 400 nits brightness, IPS and Freesync Premium. I really like it but it's still a fairly new product (came out in August) and I got it cheaper with student discount (£340 vs £399 normally). It's a flat panel, not curved. No idea if it'll go down more tomorrow.

Hey I just ordered one for about 420usd (48000 yen), how are you liking it? ive heard its the same as the gigabyte 34 inch, but theres almost no info on it.

I mainly wanted to switch from my 32" VA 144hz cause the blur was bad. Is there any blue/overshoot on the x34?

Dunno what blue is in this context but for overshoot, I dont notice it at level 3 overdrive but it is noticable in browsers at level 4

Use this website to adjust it: UFO Test: Ghosting (testufo.com)

Here you can easily see when ghosting turns into overshoot. Just try to move your head with the UFO.

Of course you can do some research and maybe find out if some reviewer did a detailed test showing which overdrive mode is the best.

So I ended up getting Gigabyte M34WQ for 500 euros during black Friday. Its a very nice monitor. It being flat freaked out me a little because after a curved monitor it felt as if it was curved backwards. Its a freaky feeling that went away after playing for a few hours, but still. If people are used to more aggressive 2600R or even smaller, than a flat panel would be a no no.  For me though its absolutely fine.

The panel itself is top notch. I tuned it to be exactly like my old LG monitor, but with much nicer 1440p resolution. Gsync works absolutely fine, even though this monitor is not verified as "Gsync compatible"

Thank you very much for your suggestion.
