There's no mention of hdr on the ad but when you Google hdr and the model numbers a number of sites say it does.

If not I'll be returning it!

This monitor simply does not support HDR. That's it. If you're specifically searching for HDR monitors you're about £1000 short.

The best HDR monitors in this price range can do is accepting the signal, not really correctly displaying it.

Bought a new monitor today

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XZG95K3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Seems pretty sweet but for some reason windows and games do not recognise it as HDR supported. Which is definitely is. I have tried the DP and HDMI that came with the monitor as well as some I already have and can get he 165hz refresh no problem but I for some reason its keeps saying the screen is not HDR ready. In the windows display settings I cannot change any of the options and in games it says HDR screen not detected or something to that effect.

Any ideas as HDR was one of the main reasons for buying the better monitor! You would assume the cables supplied with the monitor would be fine but seem to be at a stalemate.

Running it from a 3060ti with the latest drivers

Yep it seems I did not research properly!

Still a pretty good monitor to be fair. Not sure I can be bothered trying to get it back in the box it came!

I looked in a local Currys (electrical store in UK) and there were no HDR monitors so I figured they were far from mainstream

Is the difference between HDR and non HDR massive? Or only if you have an absolutely monster of a system? Might treat myself at Xmas but would like to try before I buy ideally!

it's hard to describe, the whites are whiter and the blacks should be completely black (oled or fald), the color gamut is wider check if the store has oled tvs on display.

Overall i think an oled for 1200usd is worth it, true hdr gaming monitors, not so much, unless you are extremely picky about displays.

HDR doesn't use any performance, so no monster system needed. But if you have a REAL HDR display, then it's really impressive how much it adds to the visuals of a game or movie. I personally have an Asus PG35VQ and an LG C9 OLED so basically two excellent HDR displays. Everytime i get the option in a new game i instantly turn it on. Imo it's totally worth it, even if it's still very expensive. I cannot say if it's gonna be worth it for you. That really depends on how much expendable income you have and that you actually get a glimpse of a real HDR display.

Thanks all. I have looked and can get HDR displays for a few hundred quid. Such as the one below as an example. I know its not got a high refresh rate but dont think I would need to spend megabucks to get a decent HDR.

The monitor I bought is pretty good though so happy with it as I don't know what I am missing out on! Playing at 2k 165hz is a much better experience that 4k 60hz in my opinion. For games like far cry the input lag seems really noticeable on the lower res displays

No offense to you, but reading HDR and TN on the same page makes me laugh. HDR and TN are two things that do not go together. Period.

Just like most other things i read when glancing over the shop page. Pure BS marketing, showing BenQ's marketing department is completely out of touch and has no idea what they're talking about.

HDR is something every monitor can claim, but other than very few exceptions (i know of less than 10 real HDR monitors on the entire market) they don't really exist. (the same is true for "1ms" response times", but that's another topic alltogether...) I could go on for several pages why this monitor isn't HDR and why even the officiall "Vesa Display HDR" certification is worthless, but I'm just gonna leave it at that. Don't expect a monitor under $1500 USD to be an HDR monitor, no matter what's mentioned on the box or in marketing material.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
