Hey Linus i was wondering when is the next ScrapYard Wars going to be filmed i been a fan of LTT for a couple of years and i love Watching the ScrapYard Wars challenge

There likely won't be one. Luke and Linus discussed it in a somewhat recent WAN Show, and they agreed that it's run its course, especially given the state of the used market and PC component prices in general right now.

Yes, Linus has mentioned many times the series was dead, expensive to make and the videos weren't really successful anymore.

darn i was hoping for another scrapyard wars i just got done watching 1-7 and i love them espcially the last one with no internet lol

Price inflation/parts shortages have made finding any actual deals in the used market virtually impossible. Even if that wasn't the case, though, the idea has kind of run its course.

 

They've run out of new wrinkles to keep it interesting - the team challenge, while somewhat interesting to watch, was problematic in my eyes because they decided the winner through a game tournament, which only reinforces the perception that having a better system makes you a better gamer. They had no real trouble building a system that was good enough for the games selected for everyone, so it just came down to who was better at those games - the buy/build phase had no impact.

 

Plus, the past couple of seasons at least Luke and Linus are getting recognized by everyone, which taints (heh heh, he said taint) the competition by creating the risk people will give them "YouTube influencer" deals whether they ask for them or not. On top of that, there's the expense of filming SYW (already talked about) since they have to have multiple camera crews out roaming the city for days at a time and probably bring a lot of other production to a screeching halt.

 

The only way I could see a SYW return being viable is if someday, when and if prices normalize, they bring in a new slate of competitors like Danny from Nerd on a Budget to do the actual deal hunting and builds and just have Linus and Luke do commentary and judging.

That could be a very interesting take on it. Danny vs Dawid for example. You'd have to get "smaller" Youtubers to do it for the influence reason. It wouldn't be the "SYW" that people think it is, but there are ways they could make it different.
