8th Igpu driver question

Im using an 8086k and windows 8.1 igpu. I want to eun minecraft but its using basic display adapter. Ive seen the highest driver version that windows 8.1 supports is gen 6. Will it just run worse but be safe to install a 6th gen intel driver so it can be read as a non basic display?

Windows 8.1 will go end of life in about a year, probably best to upgrade to Windows 10 and install a current graphics driver.

 

If you insist on running Windows 8.1, you could always see if there is a Windows 7 driver and install that in compatibility mode (for Windows 7)

as Windows 7 was more widely supported than 8 ever was.

So i cant install a gen 6 driver and have it run worse?

You can try but normally not, the installer would just see there is no matching hardware and refuse to install. There's a reason the drivers are different, it's because the hardware is different.

 

Might have more chance with a driver for the proper hardware but for newer Windows versions working with 8.1 anyway.

 

Alternatively, maybe SDIO might have something for you.
