What's the deal with the CWT digital platform used in a couple of PSUs ? The 1/2 digital* Thermaltake Toughpower DPS G RGB, the 3/4 digital* Thermaltake Toughpower IRGB Plus Gold/Platinum and the only other full 100% digital Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 12 (1200-1500W)

As far as I remember from reviews/discussions, only the new Dark Power Pro 12 is a fully digital platform like Corsair AX1600i, with the newest Thermaltake coming close.

@jonnyGURUI vaguely remember some posts/discussion here on the forum about this CWT platform (and some cons/constraints), but I might be remembering wrong (don't have the time to search and double check atm), do you have any info about this/what are you thoughts on it ?

@Juular, @IIIIIIIIII, @LukeSavenije Or one of you guys, if there was a discussion about this already, one, or more of you probably participated.

@Dogzilla07 I have split your question out to a new topic since it had zero to do with the OPs topic.

Um, so what's the question exactly ? Is it more advanced ? Yes. Is it better ? Not necessarily just because it's partly or fully digital, but these CWT platforms are pretty good, yes. Also, IIRC Jon said that the incoming HX refresh is going to be based on one of those (half/fully-)digital CWT platforms, don't remember which exactly, was it CTT ?

Maybe only the HXi.

I found some pictures of the new HX. It looks pretty smaller than before!😃

And triangle😞

Mostly what are the major pet peeves, cons of the actual platform as implemented so far by each company, a couple of words ofanything any of you remember discussing on the forum before (if there was anything of note).  And/or something like the snippet about the HX refresh xD

I remember from the review that the old Thermaltake does not have that good components in some parts of PSU, but I was mostly thinking about the new dark rock pro 12.

I was gonna circle back to maybe the new Dark Rock Pro 12 would be something for @sblantipodi to consider buying (after he hopefully restarts the RMA and gets the HX, and or partial refund if that fits in how RMA works in US), but I understand the point, and separate topic is greatly appreciated.

None.  Digital is the way to go, from an engineering standpoint.  It's just that MCU's are more expensive than analog ICs, so they're not often used.

Whenever I see "flaws", they're usually easily fixed with a few lines of code.  And that's one thing that makes digital better.  With analog ICs,  they're very.. well... analog.  They react based on a signal provided.  So to change that signal, you have to do things like change capacitor and resistor values and sometimes even warrant a PCB layout.  Real PITA.
