Hey guys,

I own a set of Logitech z506 5.1 speakers which I enjoy using, however, I typically only use them as 2.1's because I find loose cabling suspending in mid air behind me to be an eyesore, and a hassle, all too often did the back speakers fall on the ground or get in my way. I was wondering what all of you guys do about this, how do you set up your back speakers, how far behind you are they?

Cheers

Chris

Cable extensions! Simple male to female plug will do the job.

So you keep your rear speakers on the floor then? I don't think length is really the issue, though extensions may come in handy since I'm moving somewhere yet unknown in a few months.

Just in my last house I had one on a radiator that was never on, and the other on a shelf, at different heights, but I had little choice, my bed was in the way :P

I had gotten a Logitech Z5500 back before they were replaced by the z906. I was using a pair of speaker stands I'd gotten for the rear speakers, worked nicely but I'd stubbed my toes on the bottm of the speaker stands, and the loose wires were an eyesore and inconvenience. I trolled the local tech forums garage threads and saw that a set of Creative Surround Station for sale in very good condition.....needless to say, I snagged it w/o a moment's hesitation. The wires for the rear speakers run thru the inside of the 'arms', (you can see the wires in the middle of the 'arms where there is a joint) and exits again just before the speakers' location. I love it! Now, when I play games, the rear speakers are firing down just to my back on both sides for an awesome gaming, and movie viewing experience. Here's a recent picture of my setup....

That setup looks awesome!

But as it stands I need to keep the gear I've got and find a solution, and my desk doubles up as workspace so I need to be able to shift things pretty often.

Ughh, idk, maybe when I move house I'll look at space available and try and come up with something; thanks for your input though! :)

@Tacitus

Run wires under baseboards above the carpet. If no carpet, you can use thumbtacks to run the cables neatly along the base and up the corners. For me now, I keep all 5 speakers on my desk.

I have the same speakers. I just use a bunch of zipties and bunch the cables up and get them out of the way.
