I had done it suceffuly in the past with other motherboards, by just using the screw driver method to bridge the pins (unplug the PC, find the clear cmos pins in the manual, use the screw driver to bridge them for a few seconds, i actually left it for a bunch of seconds).

But it refuses to work on a B550 aorus elite. Only can make it work by removing the battery, but the battery is behind the GPU and that makes it a pain. It does not have a clear cmos button.

What am i missing?

Jokes aside, here's the manual: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_b550-aorus-elite-ax_e.pdf

The clear cmos jumper is right above the front panel connector

If your trying to OC RAM for example do you think removing the GPU every time is a valid option? i was just asking why is it not working with the screw driver method

I have the manual and know were it is, it just doesn't work.

Now I get it

I doesn't actually work when you jumper the pins, right?

Make sure your screwdriver isn't rusted or can conduct electricity

Leave it there for a moderate amount of time, say 10-15 seconds

thanks for the help. I actually tried 2 different screw drivers and left it there for quiet a while, but i can't get the damn thing to work. Removing the battery works.

Do you think if i get one of those actual jumpers old motherboards used it will work, it wouldn't make any sense right as the screw driver should do the same. I'm desperate here (1st world problems i know)

Safest / Best method would be to

Turn off the power supply from the on/off switch in the back or by unplugging the power cable.

Wait at least 5-10 seconds (so that 5v stand-by circuit will discharge and no longer supply power)

Either short those pins or unplug battery

if you unplug battery otherwise, the cmos may still be powered through the 5v stand-by from your power supply.
