Budget (including currency): preferably under 2k (gpu excluded)

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe, CSGO, other games.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3zWnZZ

Here is my parts list:

(already own a 1070 from ASUS)

I also plan on getting some DDR5 memory whenever its available.

I have plenty of storage in my current pc, so i just plan on transferring that to this build. Also, i travel a lot, so a smaller case like this is what i need. I had a micro ATX case in the past and its just too bulky, so im not going out of the itx form factor for ease of myself. I do play games (cities skylines, valorant, csgo, etc), and i use Unity, Photoshop, After Effects and a few other programs similar to those. so its a lot of drawing/programming/gaming. I did hear the 12900k runs hot and i dont like that, so thats why i settled for the i5. is it worth upgrading to at least an i7? or is the i5 sufficient?

i would also like some feedback on this monitor:

AOC 27G2 27" Frameless Gaming IPS Monitor, FHD 1080P, 1ms 144Hz, NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible + Adaptive-Sync, Height Adjustable, 3-Year Zero Dead Pixel Guarantee, Black/Red

thanks in advance for feedback

You are aware that these aren't compatible with each other and you may need to adjust :

Asus ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING WIFI Mini ITX LGA1700 Motherboard and NZXT Kraken Z63 98.17 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler are not compatible.
Intel Core i5-12600K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor and NZXT Kraken Z63 98.17 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler are not compatible.

That's a mounting hardware concern.

Presumably NZXT has a provision to provide appropriate mounting hardware for LGA 1700, though that would be on the manufacturer. They'd have to shit the bed pretty hard to either not have the kits available by request or ready to ship by today.

Edit: Just realized the differences in IHS sizes because Alder Lake.

Maybe they could skate by... we'll see.

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

I heard that NZXT will be providing brackets for the LGA 1700 chipset for their kraken lineup as per here:

https://support.nzxt.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407896253339-How-to-get-the-LGA-1700-Bracket

so im not concerned with that unless theres another incompatibility

generally I think so. With consoles having 8 cores now, I expect developers designing for that type of hardware for future upcoming games. Having the two extra performance cores should make your computer keep up with future games. With that said, the i5 is plenty for today's games. If you don't plan to play many future AAA games you should be fine. i9, I'm not so sure about cause it has the same 8 p cores but 4 more e cores. Hard to tell if that's worth it for the average consumer.

I'd also suggest sticking with DDR4 instead. I don't think first gen DDR5 will be much faster than current DDR4 for games. Their CL ratings are pretty bad right now.

So sticking with the i5 is good?

Heres a build im thinking about. Its white and corsair so if u care about astetics its great for you. The 12900k is also one of the best if not the best.

that looks like an amazing build, but its quite a bit over my budget i think and its also atx form factor. i will look into the i9 though, i do do a lot of rendering and stuff and i do hear its really good at that. 🙂

the build includes a gpu so without gpu its under 2k
