os not using ram

Go to solution Solved by BoomLiam,

32 bit Operating Systems only support (just shy of) 4GB of usable RAM. (about 3.8ish?)

Ok so i upgraded my system ran from 3 gb of ddr2 to 8 gb of ram and it doesn't appear  to be using it like i was rendering a video and it used like 1.5 gb of ram. and i looked in the task manager and its showing only 3 gbs of ram  is there a way to reset it ? Becasue it seams like its they os doesn't see it. Also its showing up in bios  i am running windows vista 32 bit

you need a 64BIT OS to take advantage of that RAM

just go get a 64bit version of the OS ur using and use the same key ur using for 32 bit it will work just fine
