Confusing windows xp computer (yes Windows xp embedded lol)

Hello all

I am working on a system that the software will only work on windows xp so kinda got no choice

but ive got everything working but ive noticed if i remove the drivers from the pc and install the new drivers and if i un-install the sound card

when i restart all the drivers are back like i did not un-install them at all

now when i try to install the sound card drivers from this asus board it comes up yellow with unkown and a ?

but the drivers do work

do you have any ideas on how to fix they's both problems

thank you

And also, if you dont give us anything to go by, you will not get an answer.
Tell what products you use, or would you want us to guess? I can assure you that wont be the smart move.

Post your specs, post your software and all that.

And if you dont know howto fix it, you also not qualified to rule out reasons, so ALL of it. 😉

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
I'm just helping YOU to help YOURSELF!

lol downloaded windows xp sp3 update it got half way and it cancelled it self even tho the cancel button was grey out lol

I would try all this with a fresh install honestly. Without anything installed, just update the OS fully first, then put your software in it.

wish it was that easy a lot of the softwear uses stuff from the system32 and system and other files ect

the only way i could get it going is making a backup off the hdd and then adding extras onto it to boot with this pc

but what it does is theirs a nvidia driver i will un-install that and then reboot and that nvidia driver has just come back again

The operating system is bad or the drive it's on is bad. That's my thoughts so far. But I think its the install honestly.

the hdd not bad but the company who has built them as locked them down so u cannot just go messing with it but the original pc that its from is dead now and that was a old celeron and 1gb ddr2

but i have also tried to re-do it all with windows 7 and it comes up saying enter activation code but the company is no longer around but with the original os it works

the only other thing i can think off is upgrading to windows vista lol and then upgrading to windows 7

Oh its hot swapped?? You're lucky it posted without a blue screen first time you turned it on then! XP was never good about hot swaps....

That said, remove all the drivers from the old motherboard. I'd do all this in safe mode though. It may save your changes then.

Yeah, the operating system is trashed then.

yeah it really is if installing any other drivers it comes up with files are missing in the system 32 so i need to use a usb stick with windows xp on that and use the files off that to fix it but then after a restart everything back to as it was original

Maybe a fresh install update to sp2, then copy paste the system files from the fresh install to the old one, obviously on separate drives.

Why you can't do a fresh install and just install your software all new?

So Google up a key. MS released the platform as dead. No different than running w2000 or 98 or 95....

This way you can DL XP SP3 and won't have to update from sp1.

Well can you find a key for this software to purchase for cheap?

Is there a way you can get the existing key from the current install?

This is the extent of any help I can give at this time unfortunately.

Possible Option: put the hard drive back on its original hardware and it may start working properly.
