new hard drive for work pc

i got a work pc running a threadripper and such

and i want some cold storage for it. idea is i model allot and would want a hard drive to place the files in.

i dont mind if its abit slow cus the program opening it caches the info so i wont feel it if i open a file.

 

here is my question.

nas hard drives are slower but more reliable from what i know and even cheaper.

while stuff like the WD balck edition is faster but abit more expensive. but i donnu if they got the reliability pluses that nas gives.

so whats a good choice for my use case?

Probably just get something like a ironwolf 12tb and get lots of storage.

 

THe nas drives have about the same performacne, and will work fine here.

8tb i found has a good price for the amount u get.

 

and so nas are a good choise? cus there cheaper then the "performance" drives i found

Yea the nas drives will be fine for you here, I'd save the money since you don't need performance.
