hi i need help as i don't think my corsair vengeance RAM is running at 1600MHz as it should be, i say this as in task manager it says that the speed of the RAM is 667MHz, surely it should say 1600MHz.

 

I have two sticks of this RAM for a totally of 8GB of memory.

nope its the right speed

It's running at 1333MHz effective, which is default.  You will need to go into the BIOS and set it to 800MHz (1600MHz effective).

DDR-double data rate. The effective data transfer speed is twice the clock speed.

Check in your bios what clock speeds your ram is set to and post results please.

What motherboard do you have btw?

I have the AsRock FM2A75 PRO4 Motherboard and i have worked out how to change the speed of the RAM i just haven't got round to it yet as my monitor failed and i am waiting for the new one to come

why can't i set it to 1600MHz?

 

Setting it to 800MHz runs it at 1600MHz.

DDR stands for double data rate.

Learning DDR speeds would help you, you are among many who ask this so don't feel so bad

and yeah I probably should but I am stupid. I also found out that the RAM isn't actually compatible with the motherboard so that's £60 down the drain
