PSU replacement

matangk

My parents have an old but perfectly functional desktop: h61 chipset, igpu.

The PSU is horrible. Huntkey cp-300, which some tech put there when the previous one died. It uses molex-to-SATA (and loose all you data) connectors, and hiccups on startup if we install an i5-3470, which forces us to use a pentium-G640 (half as strong). The PSU fan has become very noisy lately and I told them that the PSU need to be replaced ASAP.

In my country the cheapest brand options are

1. fsp hyper-k 500w

2. Antec atom b550 (orange label)

3. CM elite V3 p700

4. Seasonic core gx-500 on sale (maybe refurb?)

5. Data xpg pylon 650w

All are at $72-$78 range.

I tend towards the seasonic core, since i read some good reviews (available on intl. Websites) and I own one. Otherwise the XPG even though wattage is overkill.

Thoughts?

Thanks ahead!

Went with the XPG as the Seasonic was an open box return. Tier C but still with DC-DC and good reviews from Aris
