I bought a cpu on craigslist,, it was dead. 

 

so,, I tried it in two computers,, on my all-in-one by lenovo it would boot the motherboard and inform me there was a problem, but on my gaming computer it just wouldn't even get a screen image up. I could drill a hole in it or mount it to a hat..... 

 

but I just wanted to ask about any ideas for revival?? It would be fun to have an i7 4790 to make a toy ubuntu computer with,, and I just can't believe I've been had. 

I suppose there's no answer to this question other than replace the cpu. I am sure the cpu is dead,, the computers work with other cpus, and both computers did not work with that cpu. . . 

 

I guess I just want to talk about it for my emotions.

I gave my dad: rogstrix b350-f gaming, r5 2600, corsair vengeance 16gb ddr4 2400, gtx 980 ti , he has minecraft, halo infinite, and collects his own photography. he had a "worst laptop in store special" that finishes loading your mouse movement, but not really much else. 

 

games: Starmade, Velocidrone, Minecraft, Astrokill, Liftoff, ThrustandShoot, , Infinity Battlescape, Flight of Nova, Orbital Racer

I mean, you can start a wall art thing.  Ge a small frame and mount the CPU in it, then do the same with a few more dead ones you buy on Ebay.

 

Make a cool wall of them in your office?

I work in a warehouse,, but that would certainly look good there. maybe I could make like, a gun that launches cpus. it would be like the game cornhole but you would use your launcher.

do u see anything wrong with it on the outside of the cpu like maybe it have a pin missing or bent or something weird about it

With an LGA CPU I'd be pretty concerned if I saw a pin at all let alone a bent one

no. I spent some time inspecting the resistors on the underside,, but it doesn't have pins, because it's lga 1150, so it's all pads.
