A very late start in Elite?

Middcore

At some point I picked up Elite: Dangerous when it was the weekly freebie on Epic and sort of forgot about it, until just recently. Since I already have a peripheral setup that seems decently well-suited to it for MSFS (TrackIR and Logitech/Saitek X52 Pro) I figured I might give it a whirl. Can anybody direct me to some decent, up-to-date beginner guides for someone getting into this game at this very, very late date? I am not really interested in combat as every video I've ever seen in E:D looks boring as hell, but I might be up for some space truckin' or exploration (if there's anywhere left that hasn't been explored).

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
