Hello! So my old GPU, a GTX 660 Ti has just died on me, baring in mind this is quite an old build that was going strong up until this point. With the shortage going on, I've managed to pick up a Palit RTX 2060 for a semi-decent price.

During the process of trying to diagnose the issue with my pc, having now figured out it was a gpu issue, I ended buying a corsair rm750 thinking it was psi related with my current one being around 10 years old at this point.

I'm now wondering if it is worth keeping the upgrade is worth it or not. I would hate to have the old one malfunction and fry the new gpu, but am unsure if that is even possible. Some advice would be very much appreciated. For the record, the old psu is an ocz modxstream pro 600w.

Thanks in advance!

You should probably check out the PSU tier list here:

In my personal use I use a Seasonic Focus GX-850, but for the 2060, depending on the rest of your system, you can use lower power supplies with no problem.

Current system. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X; MoBo: Gigabyte X570S Aorus Master; RAM: 2x Crucial Ballistix MAX 2x8 GB (BLM2K8G40C18U4B); GPU: RX 6900 XT Gigabyte Aorus Master; case: Fractal Design Meshify-2; Storage: Samsung 980PRO 1TB NVMe SSD + 2x Samsung 980 1TB NVMe SSD; PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-850; Cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360.

I'd probably keep the RM750. While you probably don't need it, your old PSU is still 10 years old and is probably near the end of its life span. If you do return the 750w, you could get an RM650 instead or another well rated 650w, but I wouldn't consider it worth the hassle to save $30
