Boosting Internet?

Go to solution Solved by rushias,

Not that anyone is reading this anymore, but it turns out what was causing the problem was the cable i was using. I was an old cable that couldn't keep up with my internet speeds. I changed it out to a cat6 and now i have zero internet issues. Thanks for the help!

What are some good ways to boost internet speeds? I wan't to try getting a power-line adapter, but i want to try some other alternatives before i buy anything. (My internet keeps me suffering. It constantly rubber-bands between 80 ping, and 200 ping. Sometimes, going to 500.)

At the moment, we just upgraded to a new (coax) Charter router. I'm usually connected wirelessly, but i tried using a wireless extender with an Ethernet cable plugged into my system.

Wireless Repeaters/Extenders are usually always the problem.

Try it with your computer wired in. That will tell you if wifi is the issue here.

Can you run moca in your house?

How would I wire up my PC to my internet? Do you mean hooking up the extender straight to the PC with an Ethernet cable?

Run a cable from your pc to the router, just temporary as a test. Don't have any extenders in the middle.

I'm afraid that I can't at the moment, but what should I do if the internet test comes back good?

Remove the repeater/extender from the equation.
Perhaps look into running ETH cables through your house. 🙂

Doing it yourself you're pretty much just paying for the spool's & rj45jacks/outlets.
