p6t deluxe v2 and x5660?

ive managed to grab a p6t deluxe with 16gb of ram for 45$ now i need a cpu, is x5660 compatible with this montherboard?

also got a cpu cooler to go with it but idk if it’s enough for overclockng?

Only if the BIOS is updated for Westmere-EP/Gulftown chips.

A 5670 is no better than a 5660, as far as support goes.

 

If you want guaranteed support without a BIOS update, You need a Xeon 3500 or 5500 series chip, or a quad core i7.

Does it come with a CPU? People often sell X58 boards with an i7-920 or similar as a socket cover so if it comes with one you can use it to make sure it has the latest BIOS version installed. If not you can probably find one for dirt cheap

What cooler is it? Pretty much any decent cheap tower cooler should be enough for 4.0GHz 1.3v but for higher clocks (over 4.2GHz) you might need better cooler

What cooler is it? Pretty much any decent cheap tower cooler should be enough for 4.0GHz 1.3v but for higher clocks (over 4.2GHz) you might need better cooler

stock cooler and honestly i’m good at 3.8ghz, that’s all i need
