New motherboard throwing sparks at I/O shield

Hello, today I've set up a new pc using Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 motherboard and I've noticed that when I turn on the PSU, motherboard throws sparks behind I/O shield at usb ports. However the PC runs fine.

I've never met with something like this. Should I be concerned and return it? Or what could be the problem? I'm sure I plugged everything correctly.

That is a fire hazard. Stop turning the machine on. Unplug it. Take it apart. And return or RMA the motherboard.

With manual in hand  check, double check, triple check all your connections, it's easy to make a mistake. Dittos to what @Mark Kainesaid... is the board touching the case and causing a short? Or perhaps you dropped a loose screw or something under the board and it is causing a short.

 

Otherwise, RMA it.

For those who are curious, I also had other motherboard from Asus and when I tried that one, no sparks anywhere. So I can safely assume that it was faulty motherboard.

Don't worry, I checked everything, and yeah, of course motherboard was placed on the stand-offs (they were already preinstalled to the case). Sparks were coming from the boxed I/O shield panel.

 

However I'm kinda sad from this new build overall, because the Asus motherboard has misaligned I/O shield with the ports, and after some testing GPU has quite loud coil whine.. So much for silent PC. I think I'll be returning the parts back stick with what I have for now.

 

Edit: I read however that you should put you gpu under some heavy load for 24 hours to see if it goes away, so that's what I'm trying now.
