Does direct power switch button exist ?

ChopstickWarrior

I just build an open air pc and thought about the power button, i kinda hate to routing the power button and front panel cable so i think if i can jump the power just using a screwdriver then it should be something like a button that can be attach to the pin.

is that thing exist ? and what is it called ?

or its exist on some motherboard ? because sometimes i found several type of motherboard that has their own power button attach to the board

my cute beast : i3 - 530 3.2GHz | Gt 240 4gb | msi h55m-e21 | samsung 2x2GB | toshiba 500GB 7200 | greatwall 400W | unknown standart case from 2010 | Lenovo thinksvision L197 | Digital Alliance Meca 8 TKL | Digital Alliance Luna X2 | Shady chinese Headphone (but the sounds is good)

.

i know its old and have some crappy part, but it can run crysis tho.

Um…. That’s what the regular button is.  If you want to make your own power button you can do it.  Any momentary switch will work.  Usually this is about full shutdown which is what you can do with a power switch on more or less any atx PSU.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

if you dont mind a bit of soldering, modding a regular push button with pin header female sockets should be easy enough for your application

Most pin headers are Molex kk-series 2.54mm pitch. If you can find a mini push button with a similar pitch legs, its an easy 2 second soldering job to attach the sockets.

Some motherboards have an option to start up automatically when power is available, so when you turn the power supply on the computer will automatically boot.
