2 4-pin fan splitters

jghwilton

Im wanting to connect a few more fans to my mobo without having to buy a fan header if possible. is it safe to use a 4-pin fan splitter on one header and another 4-pin splitter on another header or would this overload the motherboard. the mobo is an msi z87 g45.

It is possible to use 4 pin fan splitters to add extra fans.

Please note that only one of the fans should be connected to the sense pin on the MB header in case you are making your own, similarly avoid this (notice it has 4 pins to each fan from the header):

Something like this should be fine:

Hope that helps, if it doesn't make sense please say :)
