Help, windows doesn't detect my ram

I have 2 sticks of ddr3 4gb ram, work just fine previously. And yesterday at the task manager it said only 4gb ddr3, and on system information it also said 4gb, but on bios+cpuz it detects 8gb. What should i do?

Did the issue only pop up to your knowledge after that fact? I would try removing the sticks making sure everything looks good and swap the slots that they were in i.e. Put Slot 1 into Slot 3 and other way around

Well thats the reason, try taking it out and putting it back in.
Making sure you ground yourself to the case all the time at least. (Better get anti-static wrist wrap).

Also how did you clean it, if you have used any fluids that can also be reason.
If you want to clean PC hardware use a soft brush to get rid of the dust. And only on certain safe places use isopropyl alcohol ofr the tough parts.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Both stick works well, but the slot isn't. My mb only has two slots, and the slot_1 isn't working. I don't exactly know when the pc starts to not recognizing my ram, but i realize it when i use chrome and it's a bit slower than before. Then i check on task manager to see what's running, just to see my ram isnt detected

I just use brush, and maybe i accidentally shorting my ram slot. But both of the ram is work well.

Use a flashlight (or phone light) and really inspect the slot, maybe you can see something that you can fix. 😉

I hope cleaning means using soft brush to wipe dust away.
Then its very possible, i've done it, that you put to much dust in the slot and it wont connect properly. You should be able to clearly see that with a good light.

Best of luck, and sorry if the slot really died.

I'm positive that the slot isn't ded, because bios detects it, I'll give it a try.
