Like literally all of my artists I often listen to are found by me by using the internet.

What if we didn't have internet? We all have to listen to Top40 crap only because we can't hear real artists?

Was thinking about that this morning, it's like not having a choice because the only music you could digitally hear was on the TV/Radio and that's 99% bullshit.

Opinions/thoughts?

I was really young back then but yes, but certainly not all of the artists. Mostly sorted by demand I guess.

No, not all but there was even a decent independent selection. I remember buying plenty of hard to find and rare hip hop albums that are still difficult to find even today

Also swapping music with friends, borrowing each others CDs was a great way to experience new music

I lived off of record stores back then (and still do actually), they usually have a wide variety of stuff because the only people who actually come there are people who care about music, not people who want the latest Katy Perry album (this was also the case back in the days).

Ah we had a great store that used to sell the most fucked up black metal, where you'd walk in, have a beer with the owner and listen to the CDs you were interested in.

Kinda sad that's not happening anymore ^^'

Live music at pubs and local Jam sessions, I have a few musicians in my family so I get to listen to them and their friends play quite often.

I gota somewhat agree with Osmium "I like that old time Rock and Roll" but I get to hear some very nice unpublished works too.

Video game soundtracks. And hey, if it's someting like a GTA game, you get a variety of different songs.
