so I'm doing this build but the problem is I can't understand the concept of cpu and gpu cables

the psu Im building this pc with is corsair RM850x

a total of 5,  8 pin slots,  ( 6+2 pcie and 4+4 cpu , This labelled on the unit )

Ive read and watched lots of guides on this, you should not connect pcie 8 pin connector to cpu socket or vice versa, right ?

so how come you connect these cables in the same 8 pin slot on the psu? I mean aren't they provide the same amount of voltage to the cable? whats the difference and why you shouldn't connect pcie to cpu socket if the source of the all the pcie or cpu cables are those 8 pin slots on the psu?

different pin locations, pinout-pcie.png

plugging into the wrong port releases the magic blue smoke
