Key works without a keycap but doesn't with it

I got some rando cheap mechanical keyboard about a month ago with (I'm assuming) outemu blue switches. After a bit, a few of the keys started to get really unreliable. I opened the keyboard up and there's no damage or anything wrong with the pcb. I also cleaned up the malfunctioning switches with compressed air which did fix them for about 30 minutes. What's odd though is that if I remove the keycap the switch works just fine. I checked if the keycap was bottoming out before the actual switch and that wasn't the case.
