Will it be okay to use a 550w psu(cx550) for rx 5700 and ryzen 3 3300x?

I don’t remember how much power a 5700 uses but it’s not a whole lot compared to current cards. Part of it will be how much overclock if any does the 3300 have on it.  There are various PSU calculators around that aer more or less conservative and return different numbers.  Perhaps try a few of those and see what kind of numbers you are getting.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

the 3300x is around 60w and rx 5700 under 200w so you will be fine

True as long as the 3300 stays low. I don’t know how many watts can be thrown into a 3300.  Possible I suppose it’s not possible to get a 3300 to draw more than 70w. Even with some overclocking on the cpu and gpu there’s a decent chance you’ll be fine. The issue is you need to hit the highest point that the entire machine will ever achieve.  Even for a fraction of a second depending on PSU design. Transient spikes can be high and they can be additive if multiple parts of the machine spike at the same time. The 3300 is ryzen2 (and was at one time berry hard to get in some places) so it will have some spiking behavior. The 5700 not as much.
