Is anyone even buying gpu's right now?

of course, that is why there is a lack of supply. All of the MSRP graphics cards are being sold in seconds.

Apparently.  I haven’t been but production has never stopped and the manufacturers are making out like bandits so someone is buying. Kinda curious who.  Research needs to be done.  Or at least made public.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Really.  So older FE models can still be had for pre pandemic msrp if you’re willing to play games and hope.  That may drive me to Nvidia by itself.  I was kind of poopooing them because of all the cantakerousness that seems to be appearing with the amphere cards and was looking pretty hard at AMD, but price is price.

I don't know what you mean by "older" but the current 3000 series, when they drop, go for their original MSRP still and always have. I got a 3090 for myself, then a 3070 and 3080 for friends of mine. All original Nvidia MSRP.

Best Buy is the only retailer for FE cards and has been for many months.

As for playing games and hope, its just about being in the right Discord server, making sure you're signed up for drop alerts and acting on those alerts ASAP. 5 minutes late and you're chances are basically zero.

By older I mean the stuff that comes in FE, the 3070 and 3080 I believe.  No Tis and no supers, which I am currently expecting to be a value reduction rather than increas and a paper launch in the FE stuff much like the ti stuff. I don’t count the 3090 because it’s sort of a different market and out of my ability to buy anyway.

Thanks for the tip, but best buy doesn't seem to have a notification system for when things are in stock. Do they have one? if not is there a solution?

Any In Stock system Best Buy would have would be too slow. Like I mentioned, you have to rely on third parties and in my experience, Discord is the best by far. Joining a community and signing up for the notifications is a tried and true method. Check your DM's.

Check the link, 3090, 3080Ti, 3080, 3070Ti, 3070, 3060Ti all available for MSRP.

Yeah but the later cards are considered poorer values often because the price/performance didn’t match earlier cards. Which is what I was saying.
