Why does the LG SK9Y soundbar only accept stereo input signals?

When using my LG SK9Y with Win10 via BT, even when I add the rear speakers (making the sound system 5.1 surround) the only config available is stereo. Why is that so?

U mean stereo input? All speakers work in BT mode, including the rear,

He means that bluetooth can only run stereo signals. Your phone to the head unit, that's one signal, so you can only get stereo. The head unit to the separate speakers are their own separate signals, and don't connect to your phone.
