Fan Hub

Is there any difference between a SATA fan hub and Molex fan hub? The case I want (iCue 220T) includes 3 fans, but I only have 1 fan header on my mobo. So, I need a fan hub. I'd rather save my SATA connectors for drives and other things, so can I use a Molex one instead? The fans are SP120 RGB Pros, will Molex give enough power to make these work fine?

Not really big of a difference. Molex should handle more current than SATA but I don't think it matters that much for normal case fans.

I use SATA fan hub because I already use SATA drives and have an extra SATA connector hanging out for the hub so for cable management sake, I don't have to rout the extra Molex cable just for the hub.

doesn't really matter, molex can officially deliver more power but just 3 fan motors will never be enough to trigger OCP on molex or sata.

 

i'm just curious what motherboard you're using that only has 1 fan header?
