After 10 years of an old desktop and a crap Dell laptop, I finally have my "Gaming" PC!

Graham Dillon

TBH if you couldn't afford a GPU you should have gone for an AMD APU. I think my A8-3850 is pretty cheap and the 6550D isn't too bad. (Much better than Intel graphics anyway.) I don't use it anymore since I saved up for my 650ti. Obviously it's too late to buy an APU but maybe you could look into getting a used GPU from maybe a generation or two ago or even a GTX 750.

Unless I stick a GTX 770 or greater, a 430W PSU is plenty.

a 430W PSU might not be enough for a GTX 770 under load, it recommends a 600W PSU

Couldn't find the ancient ATI card. I'm sure it's been tossed along with every other computer part in the house; my Mom likes throwing away unused things.

I didn't get a full tower; it's a mid. Also, why wouldn't I get a K series? It's expensive and they only have i5 and i7s unlockable ones which are over $200. Everything I got was because it was dirt cheap and/or on sale.

woops i thought ther was k seris in the i3 form my bad

Good job putting the power supply's intake facing up because if it was down and on the carpet it could have died. *thumbs up*

Exactly! I rarely see them faced up but since I'm putting it on carpet AND I only have 1 exhaust fan, I put it facing up.

I wish they did. But even if they did, it would cost a lot which is why I went with the cheapest i3. I honestly think it's really good though. The HD 4400 outperforms my Dells laptop's i5 HD 3000 by miles. Also, the temperatures are so low compared to the laptop and the 2003 Intel CPU that I thought the sensors were not functioning correctly.

I do plan on upgrading to a GPU though and an i3, though everyone thinks you should get an i7K, it does just fine. Unless you do editing and multi tasking and super hard core gaming, you shouldn't really have an i7K.

The worst thing about this build though is the desk and chair. You will now how bad it is until you sit at the desk. Any movement makes it wobble like crazy. I think it's from Ikea.

I also connected a receiver to the computer to drive headphones and attached a DVD/CD player to the receiver so it's like I'm an "Audiophile", lol. If you look closely, I also have two external hard drives.

I said unless I stick a 770 in there; that means really cards below a 770 would be fine. A 750 Ti would be great but I don't know if a 760 is pushing it.

It would work, but it would be close. Also, the CX430 only has one PCI-E power cable.

that is true i would say a i5 4670k would be the default for almost anything and for a gpu i would say a for u a 270

everyone usually thinks to get an I5k or a 6300 if you can't afford it

The 750ti is by far the best option if you have to pay the electricity bills in your place. Otherwise the 270 or 260X or 660 are all just fine.

At the top of your budget I'd recommend the R7 265 (preferably the Sapphire one, the Asus is sold out and the Club3D is a shitty 1GB card), and the R7 260X is also nice.

True AMD mobos are cheaper than Intel ones, but the lesser level of quality and board organization skills also is quite apparent.
